Paihia is the perfect base if you would like to discover the coves and beaches of the Bay of Islands! Paihia is also of historic importance to New Zealand, as this is where the historic Treaty House on the Waitangi Treaty Grounds is located, which marks the beginning of New Zealand as a nation. Combined with the challenging layout, this championship course provides a challenge for golfers with both high and lower handicaps. This course is one of New Zealand’s best kept golfing secrets!

Day 7 Rotorua

Driving time Coromandel Peninsula to Rotorua 231 km / 144 miles, 3.5 hours

hells gate rotorua
Hell’s Gate Rotorua

Rotorua is distinguished by Maori culture and geothermal activity! It sits within the Pacific Ring of Fire, so volcanic activity is part of this town’s past and present. Rotorua is a geothermal wonderland and is the tribal home of the Te Arawa people, who settled in its lakeside geothermal area more than 600 years ago.

This diverse city will put on a display as you stroll through Hell’s Gate, to view a steaming thermal reserve, with mud pools, craters and activities including the chance to try Maori weaving and wood carving. Sit back and relax with the Hell’s Gate Experience, enjoy a soak in a private mud bath, followed by a sulphur spa to ease your muscles after a couple of great rounds of golf.

Stay 1 night in Rotorua.

Day 8 Taupo

Driving time Rotorua to Taupo 76 km / 47 miles, 1 hour

Taupo’s Floatplane Flight

Enjoy a Peek at the Lake Taupo Scenic Floatplane Flight with highlights including flying over the Craters of the Moon and an aerial circuit of the magnificent Huka Falls.

Stay 2 nights in Taupo.

Day 9 Taupo

taupo golf holiday new zealand
Wairakei Golf Course

Wairakei Golf Course is a unique golf course, unlike the other golf courses you have played that have been surrounded by coastline, beaches, and ocean, Wairakei is surrounded by geothermal fields. It was designed by British Golf Course Architect Commander John Harris, who saw the potential to create a championship golf course like no other in this unique location. Skirting the edges of active geothermal fields, he used the volcanic contours to sculpt fairways, elevated tees and greens and bury hazards within the natural landscape. Enjoy a truly unique day on this majestic golf course.

Day 10 Auckland

Driving time Taupo to Auckland 273 km / 170 miles, 4 hours

Travel back to Auckland at your leisure and explore the city or add on a must-do activity.

You have the option to join the crew and enjoy an America’s Cup sailing trip, a must-do experience where you get a chance to spend 2 hours out on the harbour on an actual America’s Cup yacht!
