Lynton Downs Station is nestled into the hills on the Inland Road in Kaikoura. Stay in the gorgeous newly renovated East Wing catering for up to four people on the sheep and beef farm with its rich and interesting history.

The Lynton Downs Quarters, with its rustic character, was once home to many a cheeky shepherd or musterer or two. It’s suitable for one couple.

Lynton Downs is not just a place to stay but a place to experience and to relax. As farmers on this land, our wish is to share this with others, and our hope is that all our guests can take away a little bit of Lynton Downs in their hearts as it is ‘a place where one can simply just be.’

Accommodation Options & Features

The East Wing

Self-contained apartment within the original home.

• The East Wing has a beautiful open plan living /dining area and features a full kitchen and a laundry.
  Warm, centrally heated, double glazed and wool insulated.
• A separate living room has a large comfy sofa and chairs, throws, TV with SKY, DVD, Free Wi-Fi, and a selection of books, games and magazines.
• Kitchen with oven/induction hobs, microwave, dishwasher, coffee machine and all kitchenware
• The East Wing has two bedrooms with ensuites and sleeps four people:​
  • The Karkariki (green) Room has a queen bed and also features a generous ensuite bathroom.
  • In the Kowhai (yellow) Room there is a King bed which can be converted to two king singles. The room has an ensuite bathroom with shower.
  • Good quality linen and warm feather duvets.
  • The two bathrooms have a shower, robes, hairdryer, large fluffy towels and gorgeous e-friendly soaps and body washes.

The Quarters

Inside you will find luxurious bedding, linens and comfortable places to relax and enjoy the stunning views across the farmland to the hills and mountain ranges and at night soaking in the outdoor bath gazing up at a multitude of stars is a treat to experience.

The Quarters, suitable for 1 couple, is self- catering. In the kitchen you will find all cutlery, crockery and pots and pans you need. The closest town for picking up food and supplies is Kaikoura 20 minutes away by car.

Set in a private area surrounded by bush, relax in the outdoor bath and gaze at the stars ! Close to the farmyard area on a large sheep and beef farm with views to the mountains.
