Dart River Jet Safaris, the only operator on the Dart River, can take you on the longest and most sensational jet boat journeys available in the Queenstown area. They are diverse adventures from the head of mighty Lake Wakatipu into the pristine Dart River and spectacular Mount Aspiring National Park.

Wilderness Jet

Jet Boating-Ancient Forest Walk-Scenic Back-Road Tour

  • Spectacular 1.5 hour Dart River Jet Boat journey – view breathtaking snow-capped mountains, ancient native forest, waterfalls and glacial valleys frozen in time.
  • Easy guided 30 – 40 minute walk through the ‘Heritage Trail’ at Paradise, learn about the ancient native beech forest, the flora and fauna and fascinating Maori & colonial history.
  • You’ll also journey by 4WD coach via a scenic back-road, while hearing stories about the surrounding countryside and stopping to view scenery filmed on ‘The Lord of the Rings.’
  • Allow 6 hours

Funyaks:

Jet Boat Action – Funyak Rafting – Scenic Back-Road Tour

  • An exciting 1 1⁄4 hours up the Dart River by jet boat; jet spins, shallow river jet boating
  • Then begin your Funyak rafting journey in a unique inflatable ‘Funyak’ canoe. After full instructions, you’ll be free to canoe and drift for a spectacular 2 hours downstream (under the watchful eye of your professional guide).
  • You’ll stop amongst the ancient beech forest to enjoy a wilderness buffet lunch, before canoeing downstream to Paradise, where you’ll be taken by 4WD coach to Glenorchy.

  • Funyaks: All year round 7.45 am daily

  • Wilderness Jet minimum age 3 years
  • Funyaks minimum age 5 years
  • Minimum child height 1 metre

What to bring:

  • Summer: sunglasses, sunhat and sunscreen recommended
  • Winter: wear warm clothing – hat, gloves, jacket, windproof outer jacket and eyewear
  • Funyaks – bring swim wear and towel. No experience required.
