Landsborough Wilderness Experience

Imagine visiting one of New Zealand’s most remote areas, untouched, unspoiled and visited by only a privileged few. Landsborough Rafting will take you into the heart of our spectacular mountain wilderness.

Paddling and camping your way down the magnificent Landsborough Valley, you will glide past 2,500 m mountains, hanging glaciers & through dense rainforests. A perfect mix of tranquility & pure adventure.

The Landsborough River is unique, running 60 km parallel to New Zealand’s Southern Alps before meeting the sea at Haast in South Westland – a World Heritage Area. Its upper reaches are protected wilderness and provide spectacular glaciers, bush, river and mountain scenery.

Landsborough Rafting Activity Options

Landsborough Wilderness Experience:

The river trip begins in the very heart of this wilderness country. Your small group will glide past glaciers, 2,500 m mountains and dense rainforests. As you camp and paddle your way down the Landsborough River, you will have plenty of time to experience outdoor activities such as bush walking, hiking, and canyoning through beech forests – the habitat of a variety of native birds.

All you require is a sense of adventure and love of the great outdoors, to explore the splendour of this remote mountain valley in the Southern Alps of New Zealand – a love of fantastic cuisine doesn’t go astray either. This is a trip not to be missed when visiting New Zealand!
