Picton

The Port of Picton is situated at the head of Queen Charlotte Sound, one of three sounds which make up the Marlborough Sounds.

Queen Charlotte Sound is the busiest of the three sounds, as it is the main thoroughfare for the Interisland ferries, which provide passenger and car transport to and from Wellington.

Picton is also home to the TranzCoastal train journey, which travels between the delightful port of Picton and Christchurch. This journey is a scenic feast of New Zealand, with the Kaikoura mountain ranges on one side of your train and the rugged Pacific Ocean coastline on the other.
