Mamma Mia Fishing and Scenic Charters Whitianga
Mamma Mia! has been operating as a charter boat out of Whitianga on the Coromandel Peninsula since 1999. Your host Giorgio Allemano is a keen fisherman, a marine biologist and is a man of the sea; a day on Mamma Mia! will be one to be remembered.
Game Fishing: Mamma Mia! is fully setup for game fishing so why not try your hand at capturing marlin for tag and release, yellowfin tuna, or jig for kingfish at one of their favourite feeding grounds.
Scenic Cruising: Simply spend a day or half-day cruising around the spectacular Mercury Bay with its many bays and coves and enjoy an Italian-style picnic lunch at one of the beaches along the way.

Mamma Mia! Charter Fishing
- Some of New Zealand’s best game fishing can be found just off the coast of Mercury Bay on the Coromandel Peninsula.
- Species caught in the area include Striped, Blue & Black Marlin, Broadbill, Yellowfin Tuna, Mako Sharks, Kingfish, Mahi Mahi & Hapuka (Grouper). Smaller species include Snapper, Kahawai, Trevally and John Dory.
- Mamma Mia! is fully setup for game fishing using lures and live bait and all top-of-the-range Shimano tackle is supplied. Children are welcome fishermen.
- An Italian-style picnic lunch with a glass of champagne is available on request for $50 per person.
Scenic Cruising around Mercury Bay
- Discover the spectacular Mercury Bay on board Mamma Mia! A typical cruise may visit Cathedral Cove, the Marine Reserve, Kuaotunu, Otama, Opito Bay and Great Mercury Island. We’ll choose the best places to visit based on the day’s weather conditions so that you see the best the bay and the islands have to offer.
- Bring plenty of sunscreen, a hat and don’t forget your camera; sightings of dolphins and penguins are common and, orca and seals may also be seen during the cooler months.
- Maximum of 10 passengers.
- An Italian-style picnic lunch with a glass of champagne is available on request for $50 per person.
