Flight 1: Classic Whalewatch

A spectacular marine environment exists just off the coast of Kaikoura where the mighty Sperm Whale, Dusky Dolphin and New Zealand fur seal reside year round. Kaikoura Helicopters is New Zealand’s only experienced helicopter whalewatching company and we will have you in the whalewatching area within minutes.

Flight 2: Extended Whalewatch

This flight allows you extra time in the whale area to view these majestic creatures of the deep. This also gives you the possibility of viewing dolphins for just a little extra.

• Approximate time: 40 minutes

Flight 3: Coastal Whalewatch

This flight combines the best of both worlds. Only by helicopter can you aerial whalewatch one minute then be landing on a hilltop high above Kaikoura’s unique and rugged coastline the next. Includes landing

Flight 4: Top ‘n’ Tail

The name says it all. Climb high above Kaikoura to land amongst the rugged Seaward Kaikoura Ranges. After experiencing breathtaking views of the area, lift off and within minutes be viewing the mighty Sperm Whale. Includes landing.

Your safety and comfort is paramount when flying with us. All aircraft are fully equipped with pop-out floats, life raft and life vests. As most flights take you over water, all pilots have undertaken the Helicopter Underwater Evacuation Technique (HUET) water course (updated every 24 months) and are knowledgeable in every aspect of Kaikoura’s marine mammals and their environment.
