Discover it for yourself on one of our scenic helicopter flights! Heliworks provide scenic flights in and around Queenstown and Fiordland including Milford Sound or even Dusky Sound and Doubtful Sound which are very exclusive and rarely visited by tourists due to their remote locations.

Heliworks operate the newest fleet of helicopters in the Queenstown area and our friendly pilots all have high flying hours and extensive experience in mountainous terrain. Safety is of the highest priority.

Activity Options

Remarkables Scenic (20 minutes with landing)

Watch the jetboats race up the Shotover and Kawarau Rivers as you fly past and then up the face of the Remarkables Mountain Range to land on top for a photo opportunity of the beautiful Wakatipu Basin. You then fly down and past the Queenstown township on your return.

Cecil Peak (35 minutes with landing)

"We can honestly say this is one of our best ever Scenic Flights!"Head south-west over the historic Kawarua River, climbing to 2000 ft as you glide over the new Jacks Point golf course. Within a few moments you are over stunning Lake Wakatipu with its pristine glacial waters – take in beautiful views of the famous Remarkables mountain range. Then descend to 500ft and follow the Lochy River, famous for its trout fishery, up to Long Burn Creek. From this junction we weave our way high into a magnificent mountain valley, climbing to 5300ft and land on the famous Cecil Peak Ledge to enjoy some of the best views over Queenstown, Lake Wakatipu, The Remarkables and on a clear day Mount Cook! Finish with a scenic journey back to base, an experience that we guarantee you will never forget.

Grand Glacier (60 minutes with landing)

You will see the hidden beauty of the headwaters of Lake Wakatipu and the golden history of mining on this one-hour experience, which then follows the meandering waters and forested valleys to two not-often visited glaciers, the Earnslaw Burn and the Jura. Both offer breathtaking photo opportunities of blue ice and cascading waterfalls. From the Jura Glacier, you look out to Mount Aspiring and the highest peak in Fiordland, Mount Tutoko.

Earnslaw Exclusive (75 minutes with two landings)

"Our Number One Helicopter Flight Experience." Take this flight to two of Heliworks’ exclusive landing sites – The Earnslaw Burn and Mount Nicholas. Depart Heliworks and fly over the Richardson Mountains to the spectacular Earnslaw Burn. With its blue ice and cascading waterfalls this is a location not to be missed. Your flight will then continue across the Humboldt Mountains towards Greenstone, following the Mararoa River before landing at Mount Nicholas. Enjoy the spectacular vista across Lake Wakatipu before returning along the lake to Queenstown.

Milford Sound Highlights (90 minutes with landing)

No trip to New Zealand is complete without visiting Milford Sound and going by helicopter means you can see so much more of the hidden valleys, such as the Tutoko or Harrison, with their slopes covered in rain-forest. This 90-minute experience will take you past the head of Lake Wakatipu to the glacial beauty of Milford Sound, including a spectacular view of Mitre Peak.

Fiordland’s Finest, including Milford Sound (135 minutes with three landings)

Fiordland is spectacular and this 135-minute trip will show you the best of it, from the highest peak, Mt Tutoko, to the coastal fiords, from glaciers to waterfalls. You will be able to stand on the mountain tops, touch the ancient ice of a glacier and chase the waves on an isolated West Coast beach. You will also visit the world-famous Milford Sound, and see the sights of the Milford area, including the second highest waterfall in the Southern Hemisphere, the Sutherland Falls and the Mackinnon Pass.

Leave the crowd behind to join Heliworks and Nomad Safaris for an exclusive day of wonder in the wilds of Fiordland and Mt Aspiring National parks. Your day starts with a spectacular private flight with Heliworks Queenstown Helicopters to Fiordland National Park, a World Heritage Area. Land at sites that will amaze you… Lakes, glaciers and remote West Coast beaches. Fly up Milford Sound where sheer rock faces rise 1200 metres from the sea on either side. Continue on to the remote and breath-taking Earnslaw Burn – where Heliworks has exclusive landing rights – with its blue ice and cascading waterfalls for a gourmet picnic lunch.

After lunch fly back to the base of Mt Earnslaw where you are met by Nomad Safaris in their luxury, late model Range Rover for an exclusive private tour through the forests and valleys at the head of Lake Wakatipu. You decide whether to enjoy a short walk through native beech forest, explore the remote Rees Valley or take in some of the locations used in filming the Lord of the Rings movie trilogy. Your day concludes with a drive back to your Queenstown accommodation along the shores of Lake Wakatipu.
