Harley Tours New Zealand Multi Day Tours Ex Auckland Queenstown & Christchurch

The 14 Day Scenic Tour departs from either Auckland or Queenstown and the 19 Day Legacy Tour departs from either Auckland, Christchurch & Queenstown. Both tours are available as chauffeured passenger tours or self ride guided tours.

14 Day Scenic Tour

DAY 1 Auckland – Omapere

  • Make a start heading through Auckland onto the Twin Coast Discovery Highway.
  • Stop at the well known Matakohe Kauri museum, have lunch and discover the local history.
  • Carry on through the Waipoua Forest to Tane Mahuta, the oldest & largest native Kauri tree in NZ.
  • Follow the western coastline to Omapere where you will stay the night by the Hokianga Harbour.

DAY 2 Omapere – Paihia (Free Afternoon)

  • Enjoy the short ride heading east to the magnificent Bay of Islands, it is here you will have the opportunity to maybe take a cruise through these wonderful Islands, swim with the dolphins or explore the ground of Waitangi, the birth place of this wonderful nation.

DAY 3 Paihia – Tairua

  • Heading south along the eastern seaboard make your way through Auckland and onto the Pacific Coast Highway for a splendid day of riding to Tairua, on the Coromandel Peninsula.

DAY 4 Tairua – Rotorua

  • An amazing ride through the winding roads of beautiful Mercury Bay and onto the Bay of Plenty as you reach Rotorua. Unwind in a thermal hot pool if you wish.

DAY 5 Rotorua – Wellington

  • The ride is a bit longer as you wind your way around Lake Taupo and onto the central volcanic plateau of the North Island, as you make your way south to Wellington, the Capital of NZ.

DAY 6 Wellington – Hanmer

  • Board the ferry for a 3 hour crossing to the South Island. From Picton head south along the east coast before heading inland to the thermal resort of Hanmer Springs.

DAY 7 Hanmer – Christchurch

  • Ride through the stunning scenic inland route, as heading for Christchurch, the garden city of NZ.

DAY 8 Christchurch (Free Day)

  • Yours to relax and enjoy wonderful Christchurch City.

DAY 9 Christchurch – Punakaiki

  • The rugged west coast is your destination today, follow the trans scenic route through the Aurthurs Pass National park and onto Punakaiki and the famous Pancake Rocks.

DAY 10 Punakaki – Franz Josef

  • Enjoy an incredible ride along the West Coast to Franz Joseph, with the mountainous forest region on your left & the Tasman Sea to your right – some of the most breath-taking riding.

DAY 11 Franz Josef – Cardrona

  • The Gates of Haast and the spectacular Haast Pass waits as you head across the Mount Aspiring National Park along the banks of Lake Wanaka through to the Cardrona Valley, for your stay at the historic Cardrona Hotel established since 1863.

DAY 12 Cardrona – Te Anau

  • Ride through the Cardrona Valley road and over the Crown Range (the highest sealed road in New Zealand). Heading south following the heritage trail to Te Anau, the gateway to Milford Sound.

DAY 13 Te Anau – Milford Sounds – Te Anau

  • Ride through the Fiordland National Park and into Milford Sound, it is here that you have the option of taking a boat cruise on this magnificent sound.

DAY 14 Te Anau – Queenstown

  • The final ride takes you south along the southern scenic route, having taken in such beauty make your way back to Queenstown. Where tonight, sit back, relax and gather your thoughts, share stories and have a great time as you cruise across magnificent Lake Wakatipu to Walter Peak Station for your Harley Tours New Zealand farewell dinner.  

19 Day Legacy Tour

This tour may depart from either Auckland, Queenstown or Christchurch. Queenstown tour starts at Day 12 and ends at Day 11. Christchurch tour starts at Day 17 and ends at Day 16.

DAY 1 – 5 same as above 14 day tour

DAY 6 Wellington – Nelson

  • Board the ferry for a 3 hour crossing to the South Island. From Picton head through the scenic Queen Charlotte Drive to Nelson, for your first night in the South Island.

DAY 7 Nelson (Free Day)

  • Yours to relax – you may want to explore the Able Tasman National park, visit the golden beaches that surround the area or maybe take a kayak tour the choice is yours.

DAY 8 Nelson – Punakaiki

  • The rugged West Coast is your destination today as you head through the Buller Gorge for Punakaiki and the famous Pancake Rocks.

DAY 9 Punakaiki – Franz Josef

  • Enjoy an incredible ride along the West Coast to Franz Joseph, with the mountainous forest region on your left & the Tasman Sea to your right – some of the most breath-taking riding.

DAY 10 Franz Josef – Cardrona

  • The Gates of Haast and the spectacular Haast Pass waits as you head across the Mount Aspiring National Park along the banks of Lake Wanaka through to the Cardrona Valley, for your stay at the historic Cardrona Hotel established since 1863.

DAY 11 Cardrona – Queenstown

  • Head for one of the most spectacular cruising experiences you will encounter as you follow the Cardrona Valley road over the Crown Range (the highest sealed road in NZ) to Arrowtown.
  • Having explored this historic village of Arrowtown head back through Queenstown and follow the picturesque Lake Wakatipu to Glenorchy, back to Queenstown for an evening cruise & dine.

DAY 12 Queenstown (Free Day)

  • Queenstown is yours for the day. The perfect place for you to enjoy all those adventure activities or maybe just sit back, relax and take in some of the most remarkable scenery.

DAY 13 Queenstown – Te Anau

  • Leave Queenstown behind and head through the Kawarau Gorge, across Lake Dunstan and travel through the gold fields, following the heritage trail to Te Anau, the gateway to Milford Sound.

DAY 14 Te Anau – Milford Sounds – Te Anau

  • Ride through the Fiordland National Park and into Milford Sound, it is here that you have the option of taking a boat cruise on this magnificent sound.

DAY 15 Te Anau – Lake Tekapo

  • Your ride today takes you north along the banks of Lake Dunstan through the grandeur of the Lewis Pass as we make our way towards Lake Tekapo and the Church of the Good Shepard.

DAY 16 Lake Tekapo – Christchurch

  • From Lake Tekapo make your way through the Mount Cook / Aoraki National park, to view New Zealand’s highest Mountain Mount Cook / Aoraki. Having taken in such beauty now take the scenic route past Mt Hutt and through the Rakaia Gorge into Christchurch, the garden city of NZ.

DAY 17 Christchurch – Picton

  • The East Coast is your destination, head north to Picton for our return journey to the North Island. Stopping along the way at Kaikoura, where you may want to take in some whale watching.

DAY 18 Picton – Napier

  • Board the Interisland ferry for the 3 hour crossing to the North Island.
  • On land again head up the Eastern side of the North Island to Napier in the Hawkes Bay, this region is well known for its Chardonnay & Cabernet Sauvignon & is the Art Deco capital of NZ.

DAY 19 Napier – Auckland

  • Cross the ranges into Taupo on the banks of New Zealand largest Lake. Make your way through New Zealand’s largest dairy farming province as you head north through the farmlands of the Waikato and Hauraki Districts before arriving in Auckland. Sit back, relax and gather your thoughts, share stories and have a great time at Harley Tours New Zealand farewell dinner.
