Activity Options

Omahau Experience

• A great trip for the novice mountain biker
• Easy tracks with panoramic views of the Mackenzie Basin and the beautiful Lakes Ohau and Pukaki
• Ride the 4WD and farm tracks finishing with an hour long fast and flat ride to Twizel through the Pelennor fields Lord of the Rings film site and an optional swim in the warm Lock Cameron
• Grade: 2 – Easy (intermediate fitness required)
• Total vertical descent 1000m

‘Ohau’ I love to Ride!

• Ok fitness freaks, here’s the ride for you!
• Instead of a continual descent, head along the entire Ben Ohau ridge line, with a big uphill section
• The challenge – to complete the uphill without stopping, if you do the first drink’s on us
• This trip combines the start of the Grand Greta course but turns off before the first stream crossing to ride along the undulating ridge line to join up with the start of the Omahau Downhill course
• A fantastic cross country ride with amazing views over the lakes, mountains and valley
• Over 20 km’s of downhill cross country
• Grade: 2 to 3, Easy to Intermediate (high fitness required)

Alps2Ride Helibike

• Stating at Glentanner Park your flight is over glaciers and the Ben Ohau mountains with fantastic views of Aorai/ Mount Cook
• 20 minute helicopter flight with snow landing
• Stunning scenery with glaciers, Aoraki Mount Cook and the Southern Alps, turuoise glacial lakes and golden tussock grasslands
• Great downhill and cross country mountain biking suitable for the novice or skilled rider on a high country farm 4WD track
• Take an option swim in one of the pristine tarns (small lakes) if you are feeling adventurous
• Learn about the alpine ecology, flora and fauna, geology and glaciers and high country farming
• Grade: 2 – Easy (low fitness required)

Other Information

• For the duration of your trip you will receive a full suspension mountain bike, helmet, gloves and small day pack to comfortably carry items you may want to bring
• Omahau Experience and Alps2Ride include bike hire, ‘Ohau’ I Love to ride requires bike hire

Location

The Corner of Ostler and Wairepo Roads, Twizel, New Zealand. All trips start from the office in Twizel. Pickups from your accommodation can be arranged.
