Sightseeing Tours

Experience the sensations of The Bay! Be escorted on a full or half-day trip taking in the sights and tastes of beautiful Hawke’s Bay.

• Earthquake: start with an informative commentary on the history of The Bay, and learn about the horrendous events of 1931 when the great Napier Earthquake and fire leveled the city to ashes.

• Art Deco: The city was rebuilt and reborn in the Art Deco style which was the fashion of the era, and which gave the city it’s moniker of the Art Deco Capital of the World. Each year thousands of visitors flock to this Mediterranean-climate city to take part in the annual Art Deco Festival. With residents and visitors dressed in period costumes, and hundreds of vintage cars touring the streets, the city is transported back to the days of flappers and boaters.

• Twin Peaks: Visit the "Twin Peaks" to take in soaring views of the coastline and the fertile Heretaunga Plains, home of some of the world’s most fertile soils, and the country’s second largest wine-growing area. You’ll know now why its called "Hawke’s Bay Wine Country".

• Savour: Visit the country’s oldest winery, where you can sample the finest award-winning wines, and learn the history of wine-making in New Zealand. Take in the views and tastes of the Mission Vineyard, established by the Marist Brothers in 1850 to provide sacramental wine.

• Sheepskin: New Zealand is famous for its lamb and wool products – visit a sheepskin factory where you can see the process of transforming sheep skin to a variety of interesting products.

• Taste: Cheese, honey, chocolate, wine, gourmet tasting platter – you will experience the sensations of The Bay when you book with Bay Tours & Charters.
